Creating, nurturing, and maintaining strong client relationships is important for a sustainable and profitable business growth. Talking to other photographers I realized that gaining clients is one of the main obstacles for many newer photographers starting and growing their business.
Some of my recurring photography client relationships go back right to the beginning of starting my photography business more than 10 years ago. I have been working with these clients for years and every time we work together on a photo assignment it feels like we grow even stronger connections and a well-functioning team.
From my time in finance and banking, some clients have become good friends, which I met more than 20 years ago.
What is behind this?
It’s all in the power of establishing personal connections.
- Be genuine. Be the real you! Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Honesty not only about your business but also about who you are as a person.
- Be as human as possible. Humanity seems to be missing in many parts of this world. Treat clients with kindness, compassion and appreciation.
- Stay humble
- Care about people. If you really car about your clients, the will feel this.
- Stay positive
- Share knowledge and be open minded
- Understand your clients needs. Show empathy for their needs and their situation.
- Overdeliver. Go above and beyond to ensure the clients satisfaction. Happy clients equals return clients, which results in more revenue and business, including referrals from existing clients to potential new customers.
